On the 1st April 2022, OZEV replaced the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) with the current 'EV Chargepoint Grant'. This grant provides funding of up to 75% towards the cost of installing an electric vehicle smart chargepoint at domestic properties across the UK. Here at Green Electrical, we're OZEV-Approved installers. Meaning, we can apply for the grant on behalf of yourself - You will not be invoiced for the grant amount.
The EVHS (now replaced with The EV Chargepoint Grant) is unlikely to come around again, because the Government is now shifting its focus towards the eight million people unable to install a home charger.
These chargepoint grants are designed to discourage people from buying petrol-fuelled cars, and to opt instead for electric vehicles which release fewer pollutants into the environment and are significantly cheaper to run.
The criteria for the replacement grant has changed a little in comparison to the EVHS scheme. To be eligible for this grant, you must live in rental accomodation or own a flat. You also must own, lease or have ordered a qualifying vehicle and have dedicated off-street parking at your property.
If you are eligible for this grant, you could save yourself up to £350 off of your home charging point.
There are some vehicle requirements which will affect your eligibility. If you meet the following criteria, you will be eligible for the EV Chargepoint Grant; individuals who have become registered keepers of a new or used EV, who are assigned a company car or lease an eligible EV for at least 6 months, who lease an eligible EV through a salary sacrifice scheme, who are named by their employer as the primary user of an eligible EV for atleast 6 months and those who have ordered an eligible electric vehicle.
The customer must be able to provide evidence that they qualify under one of the above categories.
In terms of vehicles - to be eligible for the grant, the vehicle must be listed on the eligible vehicles list at the time of installation. If a vehicle or model is not listed, it is not eligible for grant.
