Do I Have To Pay Road Tax On My EV?

Since April 2020, owners of purely electric powered vehicles do not have to pay any road tax for the first year or any years after that.

Owners of hybrid electric vehicles now benefit from a reduced rate which sits between £0 and £100 for the first year, rising to £140 for every year after that. The amount paid in the first year by a hybrid vehicle or any other standard fuel vehicle is calculated using the car’s CO2 emissions in grams per kilogram of car weight.
