Hertfordshire Chambers of Commerce Nomination

We are delighted to be considered for the Hertfordshire Chambers of Commerce Award, for 'Hertfordshire Family Business of the Year 2022'.

Despite being established in 2008 and certified in EV charging in 2014, our new journey started in 2019 which saw an unprecedented demand in Home EV Charging installations. From the moment we started Green Electrical & Maintenance Services Ltd way back in July 2008, our sole focus was to offer the most efficient customer service as possible. We knew with our existing 25 years of industry experience that we had, our workmanship in the electrical industry would always be of high standard, with care and diligence so our customer service therefore had to be focused on offering the best customer experience as possible. Throughout our trading history, we have changed many software providers, many suppliers and many tool brands, all of which was to create a better customer experience, even this website!! (Hopefully you will find it informative and easy to navigate).

However it was in 2021 when we decided to take the extra leap in providing the best customer service as possible and that was to open the UK's first EV charger shop, a showroom dedicated to EV Chargers, located conveniently on the High Street. Between 2019 and 2021 whilst on site installations, the most frequently asked question from our customers was 'can we see the charger before it is installed?'. We also got feedback that many customers preferred face to face transactions rather than over the internet. With all this new information from our customers, Martha and I decided to open 'The EV Charger Store, located at 13c London Road, St Albans, AL1 1LA.

We finally opened The EV Charger Store in September 2021 and since then we have been able to provide a lot of information on EV Charging, the types of EV chargers, listening to the customers’ requirements and then suggesting a suitable EV Charger for their needs and on the odd occasion, been able to reassure the customer, particularly on range anxiety, often filling in the blanks in between. Offering this extra customer service has led to Green Electrical and The EV Charger Store completing over 300 installations in as little as 6 months.

Although we never thought of opening The EV Charger Store as a risk, it was still a new concept and bit of the unknown however 8 months later Martha and I have able to reflect on what has been an incredible success, especially when we receive fantastic customer reviews, detailing how helpful The EV Charger Store and the process has been.

As owners of a small business, Martha and I are often touched by some of the feedback and proud to be associated with the company. The nomination for the award of Hertfordshire Family Business of the Year 2022 has been very pleasing to receive and its heart-warming to be recognised however without our incredibly hard working engineers and their excellent knowledge in EV Charging, this nomination would not be possible and certainly the amount of referrals The EV Charger Store gets from existing customers.

Excellent experience from start to finish...Paul responded quickly to my initial query, provided a quote which I accepted and then arranged installation within 2 days. Ryan who did the installation was excellent, ensured the unit was installed exactly where I wanted it, connections to the consumer unit were neat and that all cables were clamped well. He also took time to explain the functionality of the unit once he had paired it with my router. All in all, a very professional approach and a very satisfied customer.
