How Do I Pay For Charge On The Go?

If you have to make a stop and charge your car at a public charge point, you will find that many are pay-as-you-go – with a couple of different ways to pay:

Ways to pay:

-    Plug your car in, charge it for as long as you need to, and then pay via contactless payment. This may incur transaction fees but it is a sure way to get quick access to a charge when you need it.
-    Pay for your charge via an app which links to the charge point and automatically charges the fee back to your payment card. Some apps require a balance to be uploaded to the app charge pot before use, so that you can keep on top of your spending – rather than simply charging straight back to your payment card.
-    Specialist RFID cards which allow access to a charge point via automatic identification. These are different for different networks so are not as widely used.
-    Find a “Plug and Pay” charge point which offers free charge!

Most users download an app which is relevant to their EV model as well as one which provides information on the electric vehicle charge point network as a whole. We recommend all drivers download both to ensure that they have a solid understanding of the options available to them as a user.
